On Monday we went to what used to be Purgatory Ski Resort (now called Durango Mountain Resort) to have fun with all the summertime activities they offer there. The far and away hits with our group were the alpine slide and the bungee trampolines. We had a great (albeit competitive) day.
Tessa celebrating her victory over Pops on the Alpine slide.
Kara and Kadence on the way up the ski lift to the top of the alpine slide.
Team Jon/Lily ended up beating Team Kara/Kadence, but only because Kara got too aggressive/competitive and flipped her sled over on one of the curves. The resulting skin burns on her shoulder and Kadence's face were pretty impressive.
Pops on the way up to the top.
Tessa wins! Again!
Dan, Ellie, Jack and I also went down the alpine slide several time, but there is no picture evidence of this, obviously.
The following pictures are of the other preferred activity of the day the bungee trampolines. Almost everyone decided to give it a try (even the little girls) and all of the adults were brave enough to flip mid-air. It was exhilarating.
Lily flying high and having a blast.
Ellie did not stop smiling the entire time!
Kara after an impressive back flip.
Tessa coming out of a forward flip.
Kadence was all smiles too.
Now for my crowning accomplishment. I somehow convinced myself to do a few double back flips, and after the first attempt (which was a little rough on my ribs - I was sore for a few days because of that one), I did pretty well pulling off two complete rotations. The pictures to prove this bravery:
A few other pictures from the day:
Jack and Pops.
Me with cutie boy, Deano!
Pops on the bungee trampoline!
The three sisters!
The whole gang!!
Jack liked to feel the water in the gold panning activity.
Momo, Pops and the kids. Four out of five isn't bad - right?!
After we left the Durango Mountain Resort we went to a dinner BBQ show at a ranch in Durango. Before the dinner started the kids rode a train around the ranch and played on the playground. Needless to say, these kids were WORN OUT after this day!
Ellie and Kadence on the train.
Deano with his Purdue (boo! JK - Will's mom and dad both went there) and super cute shades.
Jack and Ellie on the see-saw.
