Backyard Camping

Dan and I have been wanting to take our kids camping all summer, but we never got around to actually doing it. Labor day weekend we finally decided that enough was enough and we were going to give the kids the "camping experience". We didn't have the ability to go far from home, so the backyard ended up being the perfect spot. The kids helped Dan set up the tent and Dan put out our camping chairs and made a fire in the fire pit. We roasted hot dogs over the fire for dinner and made S'mores for dessert.

The campsite.
It's getting dark - time for bed! Dan was going to sleep out in the tent with the kids while I was getting a reprieve to sleep in the house.

All tucked in...looks great doesn't it?!

Too bad the camping out only lasted about an hour until our neighbor came out and turned on the lights on his back porch and woke up the kids. After that they wouldn't go back to sleep outside and everyone ended up sleeping in their beds.

Maybe next year we'll go somewhere farther than the backyard and the tent sleeping will last all night. Nonetheless it was a great time for the Finke family.

These pictures are not from the same night as the camping, but I thought they were worth sharing.
