Lucita and the Legend Poinsettia

For Ellie's Preschool Christmas Program she played the role of "Lucita" in a play called "Lucita and the Legend of the Poinsettia"

This is how Ellie tells the story:

Lucita lived in a little cottage. Over the hills of Mexico. She and her mother were making a blanket on the loom for Baby Jesus. Then Lucita's mom got ill and Lucita had to work on the blanket by herself. Soon her friends came over to help her finish the blanket. When they were all working on the loom the yarn got too tangled and they couldn't finish the blanket. Even though the blanket wasn't done Lucita took the blanket to the church. Lucita was sad to have to give a bad gift to Jesus so she ran into the trees to hide. Then Lucita saw a girl in the forest who told her to go to the church to celebrate with the others. Lucita told her that she can't because her blanket was ruined. The little girl told Lucita it was okay because anything you can give baby Jesus he will like because it was given. So then Lucita looked around the forest and saw some bright red leaves. She and her friends picked a big handful of the red leaves and walked toward the church. Lucita gave the baby Jesus the red leaves, or poinsettia plant, as a gift to celebrate his birthday.
