September Wrap-up

Sorry it has been so long since I've updated the blog! This semester has been really busy, and the blog has been one of the things that I have let slip off my plate. So, I will take this opportunity to wrap-up September (even though it's the middle of October).

One of the most fun things that we've done since the last time I've written is to go down to visit our friends the Foors. They invited us down for a BBQ - it was a blast. Our kids truly love the Foor kids, and the Foor kids are so nice to our kids and play so well with them. On this occasion one of the main activities was a dress-up fashion show.
Jack-Jack dressed up as a fireman.
Nick dressed up as a dinosaur and posed with Ellie the fashionista princess.
Maddy dressed up in one of her dance costumes and showed us some moves.
Alina dressed up as a medieval maiden, so gorgeous.
Alina then modeled a different dance costume as well as some of her very coordinated tumbling skills.

After the dress-up fashion show, Maddy and Alina let Ellie "read" them a story.
They were very good at pretending it all made sense and was very interesting.
Ellie also modeled a Steelers helmet, but this was not part of the fashion show - just and exciting addendum.

It was a really fun night, and we can't wait to see them again soon!

Also in September (I think around the 18th?) Aileen and Dave came to visit us from Ithaca, NY. We all laughed pretty hard when they pulled up in this:
The reason we laughed is because Dave is about 6'5" tall, probably taller than this car is long. Leeny and I thought it would be even funnier to have Dave and Dan both get in the car at the same time. They indulged us, and this was the result:
Hilarious!
The two men outside of the car for comparison. It is shocking that they could both fit in there at the same time!

Also at the end of September, Jack decided he no longer wanted to sit in his "high chair" and preferred the booster seat instead. We usually still make him sit in his high chair for now, but he does look pretty proud of himself, doesn't he??

Finally, the last piece of big news from September is that Erinn and three of her colleagues at Penn State won a big 1.5 Million dollar Department of Education Doctoral Training grant. We were very excited and are now in the process of recruiting new doctoral students - anyone interested?!
Flowers from our department head - we planted the mums in our front yard - maybe they will take and come back next year too!
